Behind the single
Behind the Music:
Breath
My new single, Breath, comes out on . It brings together the synthesizers I grew up loving and the atmosphere of the films that have stayed with me.
The track is built around hypnotic, slowly evolving synth sequences, warm analogue pads and bright leads. Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis are clear inspirations for that melodic side. Around those sounds, I wanted to create a cinematic setting that draws on John Carpenter and the horror films of the '80s and '90s.
Emotionally, Breath lives in the calm after the storm. The danger seems behind you, and you can finally breathe again. There's warmth in that moment, and the relief feels real.
But I've always loved how horror films can make even the quietest moments feel unsettling. Sometimes it's not what you see or hear, but what you don't. A small detail, an unexpected sound, or something just slightly out of place can change the entire mood.
That contrast between warmth and unease is something I wanted to explore with Breath. The music carries its own story, leaving room for the listener to imagine what's happening beyond the notes.
For me, it is a personal return to those sounds. My background composing for video games has shaped the way I approach music and atmosphere. I'm interested in how a melody, a texture or a change in sound can give a scene its emotional meaning.
Breath brings that approach into my own music.
